Seven Things

This week, and August in general has been a pure rollercoaster of emotions. From feeling pure happiness about a variety of different things, including my job and setting up my classroom & seeing my family, spending lots of time at the beach and out and about, to be completely brought down by the death of one of my best friends. It really is odd how things pan out sometimes and the day I found out was a day where there were so many reminders of her & all the times we'd spent together... and it made me wish that over the past few months where I had those thoughts and feelings, I'd taken the time to send a text or message, regardless of the fact we were in different countries. Walking past our favourite pub where we created so many memories to work each day is going to be so hard and all I can be is grateful that I got to know you for the past five years. Today's seven is dedicated to seven memories of our memories...

1. The first time we properly met after having worked together for ages but in different departments. This was our first trip to the Foresters where we drank Archers and Lemonade, and played cards, darts and the quiz machines. I'll never forget how appalling we were at the colour of money, or when the question was 'What can you do with a sausage' and you automatically pressed 'Ride It', which caused all of us to be in fits of laughter.
2. Our book that we wrote together during many sleepovers to remember all the funny things we and our other friends said. The funniest quotes were ' I love you but I'm drunk', 'I've got 4 nines and 3 sevens and I still don't understand why I haven't won' and our jokes about Kias Kebabs and Connextions.
3. Playing Just Dance and Singstar in your living room.
4. Our countless nights out where we both did the most fun and idiotic of things. I especially remember our karaoke night!
5. The countless boy chats we had. And how we spoke about how what one 'x' meant, watched Eat Pray Love and other girly films. How you remembered all the people I said I fancied, and had secret crushes on, and how you picked up on my thoughts and moods like a twin sister would!
6. Our holiday to Turkey and other trips out and about.
7. How you was there for me when I went through the worst possible time in my life, and you gave me advice, and got me on the right track.

Rainy Days & Mondays

Grey is one of my new favourite colours, and today it has been very grey. Today has been a day for lazing on the sofa in a fleecy blanket; Going out in the morning to the garden centre to buy floristry supplies and a fuchsia plant. Being a tad upset that our local farm shop has shut down. Walking home, being soaked by a white van man (it's okay though as if I was driving, I'd probably be driving through puddles too!). Seeing gorgeous puppies for sale in our local shop window. Catching up with TV, especially Ru Paul's Drag Race, where the ladies do their make up probably better than I can! Lunch from a tin. Numerous mugs of tea. Blog planning. Holiday planning (Hello Blackpool, Las Vegas & NY!). Preparing for tomorrow's trip to London. Fish & Chips for tea. Stripey socks. Baths. Mini arguments. The sound of rain on the conservatory. Finding that we have pumpkins growing in the garden. Today has been a lovely day. I love the rain as I always used to believe it washed away all the bad things, and meant you could start a fresh. Here are some snaps from the day...

Seven Simple Things

 photo 9c669e49-3a31-4e29-9215-7a2c38ac90e3_zpslneftmwa.jpg

I've just got back from half a week away, and I am feeling seriously refreshed. Next week is the final-ish week of my holiday, and I have got so much to do but, a lot of my to do list does involve lovely days out and a shopping trip on Payday... to Lush... on Oxford Street... bye bye wages! If anyone has tried any particular new Lush items, that I should get, let me know... I get ridiculously indecisive when shopping so I'm going with a pre-thought out list (which includes Frozen and The Experimenter!).

1. Good weather, good food & chilling out.
2. Seeing the new Papertowns movie in a very posh cinema!
3. Modern Family Season 6 being on my Sky Boxsets, and watching the lot in a week. There is no such thing as too little Dunphy loving or Lily-isms that I wouldn't tire of watching!
4. Finding perfect workwear in Primark that comes in the form of high necks, Rachel from Friends style tops, dresses and skirts in the sale! I brought a style of each, and now I know it fits (dropped a dress size too *mega high five*!) I'm buying each style in as many colours as I can find ready for September!
5. Making big big big plans for the next six months.
6. Finding the most perfect dress in Marks and Spencers ... it was leopard print and had a 60s Pattie Boyd vibe to it!
7. Keeping Up With The Kardashians... favourite new reality tv show... can't believe I haven't watched it sooner!

Tweet/Instagram me what has made you happy this week!

24 by 24;

24 by 24 is an idea you may recognize from last year from this space. In 2016, I still will be turning my lucky number, however last week, whilst reading The Book of Brave, and feeling crazily inspired, I decided to sit down and re-write the list. Some ideas I had back in December, have changed, some things I have ticked off (qualifying as a teacher & attending the Blogcademy in London to name a few) and to be honest I needed a kick up the backside to achieve the goals I really want/need to achieve...

  1. Lose 77 pounds
  2. Graduate from university
  3. Complete a marathon
  4. Visit Las Vegas
  5. Go up the Empire State Building
  6. Publish an E-Book
  7. Get a tattoo
  8. Pass my driving test
  9. Save money
  10. Have business cards printed
  11. Volunteer for Crisis at Christmas
  12. Join a dance class
  13. Go up the Shard
  14. Have my hair styled
  15. Launch Etsy shop
  16. See Les Miserables
  17. Have a photo shoot
  18. Be wholly open and honest
  19. Start a Youtube channel
  20. Restore my dollshouse
  21. Upgrade my camera
  22. Learn a new instrument
  23. Buy a statement bag
  24. Learn that Pulp Fiction dance

So I have 185 days to try and conquer as much of my mini bucket list as possible! Some tasks quite honestly scare the shite out of me (17 & 19 especially!) but knowing that stepping outside of my comfort zone will make me a better person is keeping me motivated right now! I'll be posting updates over the next 6-7 months on my progress of each, and when something is achieved, it'll be ticked off on a linked page, with a more indepth story of why I picked it.

What do you have on your bucket list?

Kate Spade Wishlist

Kate Spade has been a long time favourite of mine. I love everything from the bold colours, the professional, the outrageous and all those slogans! Above are a selection of the pieces that are in my browser, that I constantly refresh to check aren't sold out during pre-payday blues, and I thought I'd share them with you today...

1. The one ultimate thing, that I have been lusting after for the past month is the Mayfair Drive Luxe Tullie  ; at £538 this is one indulgent treat, but seriously my dream bag. I already have two Kate Spade bags, and this one will be joining my collection come payday (I'm hoping for a sale/code by then!).

2. The Odds and Ends Daisy Place Medium Square Dish has been a long time favourite of mine! Kate Spade have such a gorgeous range of homeware at the moment, including watercolour china and slogan bakeware.

3. After a shopping trip to the Ashford Outlet in Kent, I purchased a few grey pieces of clothing, and I'm seeing myself become a bit of a grey lover; calling the Cedar Lacey Street Wallet. This is a popular Kate Spade piece which comes in a wide range of colours. I love cliff grey the most, and I also love the polka dot print on the inside!

4. The Cobble Hill Charley Backpack is another beautiful bag - I love a backpack, as a self confessed bag lady who always packs too much! I can't decide which colour I like more black or clock tower.

5. Under the category 'gift for the grads', the One in a Million Business Card Holder is high on my to do list. When I saw Kate Spade had an initial card holder range, each in different colours, I was hoping that 'J' would be red... and it was! As I'm planning to order business cards ready for Blogstock in early September, and as I am currently graduating/starting my first full time job, it would be wrong not to order this right? ;)

What pieces are you loving from Kate Spade at the moment? I'd love links to any outfit posts including Kate Spade too.

The World is Your Oyster;

 photo Iphone 5S 032_zpscslyhax8.jpg
During our first trip to Whitstable at the beginning of the month, we picked up a postcard, delicious cupcakes (Mad Max is a winner!  and sea salt fudge) and Whitstable Bay ale. Planning a return trip, I knew a few shops I needed to re-visit;

Whitstable Lavender  is a shop I genuinely was gutted not to go into last time; honestly I'm not the biggest fan of lavender scents (Roses all the way!) however when I got home, and looked up Whitstable Lavender, and saw the wide range of gifts, homewares and bunches of dried lavender for £5, I was really kicking myself especially as I'm someone who loves flowers, both in vases & pressed.

Bigger than my lavender pa-lava was not buying this bag when I first saw it! I fell in love with this tote, from its fishermans themed oysters, crossed with the Pinterest font and nautical theme. Note to self; never walk away from a piece crafted in a small town...as you will not find it online. Lesson learnt! After speaking to the owner of Mosaic, she informed me that textiles and other pieces in the store are designed and created locally, hence why  I definitely was not able to find it elsewhere!
This card design had also stuck in my head...

... alongside this tea towel, which is nautical/sea heaven! It is too gorgeous, I have it laid out as a table runner instead of using it as a tea towel! What I would especially love to know, is if there are any must-see seaside boutiques that you know of ... if so let me know over on Twitter or Instagram!

The Glitterati Party ; Anges Du Sucre, London

Earlier this Summer, Crown and Glory hosted a Glitterati Party exclusively for its Glitterati users. For £30 a goodie bag, your own custom designed flower crown and a chance to hang out with champagne, macarons and gourmet cakes in London... yes, yes and more yes!
The party was hosted at Anges Du Sucre... they make the most insane cakes as pictured above!
The venue was decorated so gorgeous-ly. There were florals literally everywhere, which is always a plus!
Downstairs was the pop up flower shop. Each of us got to pick whether we wanted to create a crown, clip or headband, and then pick the flowers we wanted, and ribbon colours.
Some of the girls had an idea of colours, particular flowers and styles... I had no clue, so ended up with a multicoloured mix for my crown.
The evening went so quickly, and I had an absolutely fabulous time getting to meet so many lovely Glitterati girls IRL! The below picture is a group photo which I've taken from Sophie.
Thank you so so much Sophie, Gareth & all the other lovely Glitterati girls for such a lovely evening!

Cece's First Trip to the Seaside

 photo Iphone 5S 038_zpscsscu2ss.jpg
Last Sunday, I decided it was about time my not so little pup needed to visit the seaside for the first time. After visiting Whitstable earlier this month for the Oyster festival, it was an easy choice as it was under two hours on the train, cheap and with a lovely atmosphere, it was the perfect place to re-visit. Personally I just love the pastel house colours, beach huts, clear sea and mix of pebble/sand on the beach. After visiting a few other beaches along the coastline this summer too, Whitstable had the clearest sea, it also made the perfect place to go swimming.

Seeing the sea, then running away from it!

Cece didn't swim in the sea (like I so hoped) ... any dog swimming tips you have, send my way please! After a swim in the sea and a picnic (hello Waitrose tapas & hummus) we headed home. Walking back, I ended up seeing more little details that I seemed to miss last time such as the oyster piles, and the Whitstable Oyster Co Boat (which I spent time searching for on my first trip!)

Seven Simple Things

Sometimes I feel this holiday is going really slow, and other times too fast. I'm sure in three weeks when my summer holiday is over, I'll be opting for the latter! A good part to this summer has been being able to reconnect with blogging again. I have a huge backlog to be posting, so I'll be back dating then posting links over on my Twitter! After re-reading my Blogcademy notebook, re-branding my colour scheme and Pinterest and reading some inspiring books, e-books and even Instagrams, I feel ready to delve straight back into the blogging world. My seven simple things this week:

1. £1 market flowers.
2. Re-discovering my love for Pulp Fiction. Listening to the soundtrack again and again. Perfecting Dusty Springfield. Dying my hair dark, planning a Mia Wallace hair cut to go with it. Painting my nails with Chanel Rouge Noir and ordering the 'Pirate' lipstick to match. Saying 'Goddamn' a lot... I knew my parents brought me the record at Christmas for a reason.
3. Finishing Orange is the New Black (Ruby Rose is such a babe!) and discovering some new/old tv to watch, including Shooting Stars, which I'm desperately trying to figure out if I watched as a child considering my two goldfish were called Vic and Bob!
4. Participating in #Augustbreak2015 over on Instagram. I've loved seeing everyone's photos, and it makes me even more inspired to take beautiful images, and the conversations, facts and ideas I take away from this photo challenge have been awesome.
5. Tomato Soup, jazzed up with salt, cheese and bacon and served in a camping mug. My favourite meal and it's not even winter yet!
6. Taking Cece to Whitstable. After a tiny hiccup or ten, or a few aka nervous yorkie, forgetting my railcard,  it was such a relaxing day, and I braved the sea weed and swam in the sea, and absolutely loved it. Next I'll need to face my wild swimming fear!
7. Reading The Book of Brave in less than an hour and being totally emotional yet inspired. I love the way Laura writes, including on her blog; best purchase under £5 I've made in flipping ages.
