Dotty Detective by Clara Vulliamy

As you may have previously read, I am a bit of a sucker for children's books; being a primary school teacher, children's book re-reader of my favourites (I'm looking at you Harry Potter!) I love discovering new books, especially ones I can read to my class!

Dotty Detective, as soon as it arrived, I knew would go down as a hit in my class of six year olds... it is a quick, easy & fun read, and I love stories like that. I'm not the biggest fan of short stories that are too short, but this book is just right (I promise I need to stop sounding like a goldilocks story *eye roll*)

The story follows Dot & her pet dog McCluskey (nearly nicknamed Cece this after reading!) and pal Beans, who create a detective agency, fit with badges & secret codes, with the main storyline focusing on saving the sabotage of the talent show at school.

The main pro of this entire book is how easily readable it is. Each page is differently decorated from grid backgrounds, polaroid-esque snapshots with cartoons drawn in, and doodles across the page, with a paragraph or two dotted on each page. It makes the book so child friendly especially for those that don't like reading!

Overall, a perfect little book, and this would make a lovely gift for any children fans of detectives!
